When I found out that there was a Max’s Restaurant in the GTA I had to check it out. My non-Filipino friends have been asking me to take them for a Filipino feast for a while now but I didn’t know of a place that I could recommend. Having eaten at Max’s Restaurant the last time I was in the Philippines I was impressed. My one complaint is the cost, it is expensive. Being the only franchised Filipino restaurant in the GTA I guess the demand drives the price up.
We started our meal with fresh lumpiang ubod, fried lumpiang ubod, and lumpiang shanghai:
Next we dived right into the meal with garlic fried rice:
Nilagang Baka (beef soup):
Crispy pata (fried pork hock):
Fried whole chicken:
And finally some pork Sisig (pork face chopped and placed on a hot plate):
If you’re familiar with Filipino food then it’s no surprise to you the lack of veggies. Overall, the meal was good and I would go back again to get my favorite dish, crispy pata, and to try the lechon kawali (pork belly fried in a wok).
